As a society, we must choose

Why does society put certain people on a pedestal and get angry when they do not measure up?
Is it because we are a society of intolerant, unforgiving, and weak-minded people?
Perhaps we must choose: Either we put people on a pedestal and be tolerant every time they fail to meet our expectations
OR we do not put them on a pedestal and avoid being disappointed.
