We cannot avoid difficult situations in life but, we can control how we react to them.

Our lives are filled with ups and downs. But there are times when our strength is tested at a stretch for months. We think we are not enough or experience the constant need to give up.

So, what should we do when we are being tested?

It’s a cloudy day today. As I write this blog, strong gusts of wind are blowing, and the trees are swaying in the direction of the wind. Dark clouds have gathered. It will be a downpour soon.

The weather seems like a perfect day to cozy up in a corner with a book and a steaming cup of tea. But, there is a lesson to be learned from the trees. One that is often overlooked.

No matter how strong the winds are, the trees remain grounded. They stay put. I mean, of course, they don’t have legs to run away or walk. But what I mean is that regardless of how bad the weather is, they do not break. They stay put. They sway in the direction of the wind, or as we say, they go with the flow.

Stay put, bend, and go with the flow. But do not break.

We need to be like trees. When our lives are filled with arduous situations, be like a tree. Stay put, bend, and go with the flow. But do not break.

Do not give in to the urge to give up because that is easy. Humans can endure much more than they think they can. So, ride out the storm.

Do not give up!

As you read this, you might think ‘ride out the storm’ is easier said than done. But the truth is, if you look back, you will find many instances when you were tested. Yet, somehow you weathered the storm.

Life may be demanding right now. Your current situation might be more grueling than the previous ones. However, stay put. If you can, take some time off to recharge. But do not give up.
